The National soccer team Leone Stars who have been under serious pressure by football fans for failing to win matches of late, have now vowed to spring surprises this weekend in Malabo.
Speaking to Awoko sports some of the players who are in camp said that come this weekend they will do everything possible to win this very important match against their Equatorial Guinea opponents. Such a win will put Leone Stars in a good position for the remaining matches.
They said that they are now prepared to qualify the national team for the African Nations Cup and the World Cup in 2010.
They disclosed that winning their first match will be a big boost for the team and that is why they have undergone intensive training over the past weeks. Moreover with the young crop of players who have joined the squad they are hoping to make serious differences this time around in the competition.
The team left early this morning for Equatorial Guinea with a 30 man delegation and some other supporters on a chartered flight.
Some of the professional players who made the trip are Captain Mohamed Kallon, Gribrilla Woobay, Obreh and other players.
All set of SLAA time trial
The Sierra Leone Athletics Association under the leadership of Emeric Cole will organise a one day time trial for athletes all over the country at the National Stadium in Freetown.
After the trials athletes who meet the required time set for such competitions will be taken to The Gambia for another trial where the athletes will have another chance to use the electronics time keeping. If they meet the required time the athletes will have the opportunity to represent Sierra Leone in international competitions
