One of the Leone Stars Strikers, Sahr Senesie who was supposed to play for Sierra Leone against Equatorial Guinea, on Saturday will miss the match as he is undergoing trials with Major League Soccer outfit, Red Bulls.
Reports state that the Red Bulls are searching under every possible rock for a striker – this will definitely leave Senesie out of the crucial Leone Stars match as he is fighting for a place with the American outfit.
The 23-year-old played in a Red Bull reserve match victory over D.C. United, but got a knock and came off after 20 minutes for Sainey Touray.
Red Bulls are monitoring Senesie to know how serious the knock is or if he can impress Juan Carlos Osorio in his trail.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker will be missed by fans as they were expecting to see him in the green, white and blue jersey.
Senesie who fled Freetown at age 11 for Germany, eventually signed with Borussia Dortmund. He led their Under-16 team in scoring, and then led the Under-19 team to two junior Bundesliga titles before joining the big club in 2005.
But he saw irregular playing time with the German club, which saw him, quit this year for trial with Nottingham Forest a month ago.
Senesie played for Germany’s Under-20 National Team as a forward, but can play left wing or as an attacking midfield as well.
