The national team Leone Stars will this weekend engage Equatorial Guinea at the National Stadium in Freetown in a do or die match. Leone Stars are in the same group with Nigeria and South Africa and they are calling on their fans to support them again.
The leader of this group will automatically qualify for the next stage of the qualifying series for world cup and nation’s cup, and that is why this match on Saturday is very important for Leone Stars.
A win will see them almost to the next stage of the competition
Sierra Leone has four points in three matches played, and we need to win the two remaining matches at home against Guinea Bissau and away in Nigeria against the Green Eagles to enable them qualify at least as best losers to the next stage.
Nigeria is already leading the group with nine points in three matches played. With this the Member of Parliament for Ward 105 Hon. Nuru Deen Sankoh told Awoko Sports that in as much as the technical team are trying their level best to prepare the team, the players need massive support from the nation.
Hon. Sankoh who is also a member of the supporters union told Awoko Sports that plans are now underway for massive support on Saturday. He went on to say that letters have been sent out to different business houses and individuals to sponsor the union. He said the union is planning to hire different brass bands and cultural groups for full support on that day.
Hon. Sankoh is also appealing to all football fans to go in their thousands with their full support as that will be the only motivation for the players on the field of play.
