Director General of Leo-Pharm, an Italian firm which operates in Angola, Nigeria and Sudan and has recently signed an MOU with neighboring Guinea is in Sierra Leone to promote the work of the company. Speaking to Awoko yesterday morning at British Council, Dr. Francis Ngwenadayo laid bare his mission.
“I am here to establish working partnership with NGOs engaged in malaria prevention work and also explore the possibility of working with the Government of Sierra Leone through its established Ministry responsible for public health and sanitation”. The best way to prevent malaria according to the cardiologist, is “to destroy what causes malaria”, mosquitoes.
Loe-pharm manufactures anti-mosquito chemicals. “We work against mosquitoes,” he said smiling. The company, he revealed, does not only sell chemicals. “We work with community groups engaged in sanitation work,” he told Awoko.
He also disclosed his intension in partnership with government to establish what he called “green police” in Sierra Leone. He said “green police” would be an environmental “police”. They will ensure that our environment is clean. Dr. Ngwenadayo will meet with state officials.
