A Lebanese national named as Alie Mustapha Fawaz of Fawz Building Materials at ECOWAS Street has been arrested and detained at the Central Police Station for allegedly assaulting and causing bodily harm to a fullah business man named Alpha Bah of Wilberforce Street by IMRES Pharmacy in Freetown.
According to Police sources the complainant Alpha Bah had gone to collect Le 3m from the Lebanese national Alie Mustapha Fawaz who had been instructed by another Lebanese merchant to hand over the cash to the complainant.
However upon arrival of Mr. Bah at the shop to collect the cash from Alie Fawaz he became irritated and rudely dished the money on the counter requesting the receiver Alpha Bah to collect the cash and walk out of the shop to count the cash.
Moments later Alie Mustapha Fawaz allegedly used offensive language on Alpha Bah and started to assault him by pushing and hitting him thereby causing bodily harm on his right arm.
Alpha Bah is alleged to have lost over five thousand dollars including other valuables during the assault as he started to bleed profusely he was rushed to the Central Police Station where he obtained a medical report for the Choithram Memorial Hospital.
He is currently in critical condition at the Choithram Memorial Hospital with bandages on his right feet and bodily pains according to the medical report.
The Lebanese President Samir Hanssaneh on a visit to the Choithram Memorial Hospital to sympathize with Alpha Bah, he expressed shock and dismay over the attitude of Alie Fawaz for assaulting the innocent fullah business man.
He further expressed regret over the attitude of Alie Fawaz which he said do not represent the Lebanese community in the country.
Fullah Chief Justice Abdulai Timbo also visited the victim of the Lebanese attack and promised to deal with Alie Fawaz according to the confines of the law.
“The fullah community is going to pursue the matter in court to ensure justice is done, so as to deter others from molesting and assaulting people with impunity.” He assured.
