The premise of West African Sunshine; a Chinese Housing Investment site situated along the Lumley Beach Highway, Aberdeen, in the West End of Freetown witnessed a chaotic scene for two days triggered by a group of people allegedly headed by a Lebanese national.
The group allegedly drove in the premise past Saturday and Monday, with a delivery truck to deliver a Leister generator for a client who is about to purchase one of the newly constructed apartments at the villa.
The Deputy General Manager of West African Sunshine Mr. Charles Chi said that a group of workers led by Mr. Ali Ahmed, a Lebanese national and Managing Director of A&A Enterprises at Wilkinson Road went to deliver a Leister Generator at a house about to be purchased by one Dr. Cole; a Sierra Leonean resident in Canada.
The driver of the truck while endeavoring to put down the generator in its designated position drove on top of the slabs and crushed them down.
The Marketing officer upon this incident allegedly came and gave them precautions on how to place the generator in future without affecting the works that are going on around the buildings. It was alleged that the workers ignored the advice and some of them were even crying down the construction work of the Chinese as “poorly done; a reason the slabs could not withstand the weight of the vehicle. The Chinese however said he did not pay attention to the vile insinuations and later ordered his workers to repair the damaged area.
On Monday, the same group of people went to the premise this time round to install the generator in its right position. The driver according to the Chinese could not follow the necessary steps he was given the other day and drove on top of the same slabs and damaged them even more to the annoyance of the project manager and other workers in the company.
The Chinese, in his explanation went out of patience and ordered that the vehicle should not leave the yard if measures are not put in place to ensure the damage was taken care of. The Lebanese and his cohorts attempted to forcefully make their way out of the gate even with resistance from the security personnel deployed at the gate. The gate as alleged was partially vandalized. The perpetrators are said to have gone without repairing the place. The managers of the West African Sunshine have expressed frustration over the action of the group by saying that “they have merely intended to debar our intention and the project by embarking on such misconduct”
