The Friday 15 proposed visit of the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Alhaji Abubakarr Sam Sumana has seemingly come under sharp criticism by the Pujehun District Council Chairman Sadiq Sillah for taxing each chiefdom in the district to pay the sum of one hundred thousand Leones (Le100,000.00).
Expressing his concern to Awoko Southern Region Correspondent the District Chairman questioned the protocol involved in the pending visit of the Vice President arguing that the visit should have been officially channeled through the Resident Minister South Musa Tarawllie and the Provincial Secretary South.
Speaking further Chief Sillah cried down the ongoing taxation saying it is illegally imposed on the respective chiefdoms to pay the sum of 100 thousand Leones, out rightly condemning the action saying it is against the attitudinal and behavioural change preached by President Koroma.
Sadiq Sillah in turn warned the people against any compliance. Meanwhile there has been no official reaction to this call and the office of the Resident Minister South and the Provincial administration are yet to react to the concerns regarding the breach of protocol and undue taxation. According to our correspondent in South top APC stalwarts from the District resident in Freetown are allegedly involved in the taxation in the name of the Government. There are twelve chiefdoms in the entire Pujehun district. However some of the chiefdom authorities have already worked out modalities to forcefully tax the people to pay the money before the Vice President visits despite the no compliance warning of the District Chairman. Meanwhile reports monitored by our correspondent states that few people have started paying for fear of intimidation and harassment in the hands of Government Authorities.
