Choithram International Foundation has increased its Scholarship Fund from Le 36m to Le 41m this year and 400 children are to benefit from it.
Mr. Harish Agnani Choithram Group Financial Controller said “this is a gesture of the late Pa Choithram to the needy school children and in line with his vision to improve education and health facilities in Sierra Leone”.
He stated that the increase from Le 36m to Le 41m was as a result of the increase in the cost of education in the country.
Mr.Agnani revealed that Choithram International Foundation has been regularly funding the Choithram Scholarship Fund and they plan to establish a primary school for free education as soon as Government of Sierra Leone allocates the land.
“Choithram International Foundation also provides funds not only for the day to day running of the Choithram Memorial Hospital but also to procure modern medical equipment to upgrade it to international standards,” he disclosed.
Agnani also stated that apart from this, Choithram Charity Trust also supplies foodstuff to Old Peoples Home and Children’s home every month.
“All of this is considered as part of Social Corporate Responsibility by the Choithram Group,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to Members of the Committee who have been working relentlessly over the years to ensure that this exercise is a success.
