The Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) East, Mrs. Elizabeth Turay has presented a cheque worth three million leones to victims of a fire incident that occurred on 29th January 2008 at the Kenema Police barrack along Hangha Road in Kenema city. Formerly presenting the cheque in her office to the two victims, Sgt 2871 Bao Alex and Sgt 4330 Kamara Idris, the AIG east pointed out that the cheque was issued by the executive management board of the Sierra Leone police, which is the police welfare fund to help rebuild their life after they had lost properties worth millions of leones in blocks nine and ten where they had resided. She encouraged the two officers to use the money judiciously and in the interest of their family members. Receiving the cheque of one million and five hundred thousand leones each, both Sgt. 2871 Bao Alex and Sgt. 4330 Kamara Idris commended the good effort of AIG East Elizabeth Turay and the Executive management board of the Sierra Leone police for what they referred to as good gesture. They commended the effort of diamond businessman, Mohamed Mbakui for donating the six bundles of zinc for complementing the effort of the police. The two victims had earlier received the sum of five million leones from Vice president Sam Sumana.
