Magistrate Wellington of the Freetown Magistrate Court No 2 on Tuesday granted bail to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Barbar Kamara and Police Constable Ibrahim Mansaray on three count charges of conspiracy to commit felony and fraudulent conversion of two vehicles belonging to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Force.
Their charge sheet reads that the two on diverse dates between 23rd October to 31st September 2010, at the Kingtom Police garage fraudulently converted two Police vehicles contrary to Law.
The State Prosecutor Yusuf Koroma in his application before bail was granted, stated that they need to do some amendments as there is no value attached to the two vehicles allegedly misappropriated by the two accused persons.
He added that the CID Investigators did not attach any cost and as such it will be difficult for him to proceed with the matter. Lawyer Koroma maintained that he will contact the CID investigators to team up with officials at the Road Transport Authority to determine the value of the said vehicles for a proper amendment to be made as against the next adjourned date.
On their own part one of the Defense Lawyers DG Thompson told the court that they relied on the previous bail applications they made. He also begged the court to reduce the bail conditions as there is no cost attached to the two vehicles.
After listening to both sides, the Magistrate granted bail in the sum of Le 100Million each with two sureties one of whom should be a house holder and also submit their title Deeds to the court. The matter was adjourned to February 7th 2011.
