The National lawn Tennis competition is still in progress at the Lawn Tennis Court. The competition started on Wednesday and before the start of the competition the president of the association John Benjamin in his statement thanked NOC for donating the required equipment to the association.
He also thanked Africell, Tigo, and Comium for sponsoring them. He explained that the reason for organizing such competition is to spot talent for the future that will represent the county in international competition.
The president of the National Olympic committee (NOC) Henry Moore in his own statement said he is pleased to be present as that is the duty of NOC to look at all disciplines and tennis is not exempted.
He went further that the money sent to NOC is for specific reasons and it has been spent in those ways. He later appealed to all players to put up good sportsmanship during the competition.
In the U-12 category in the first match S. Kamara from the Southern Region defeated M. Kamara from the Western Area by 6-2.
In the other U-12 matches B. Kanu from the Northern Region lost to E. Kanu of Western Area by 6-3. Abdulai Bangura of Western Area came on strong to defeat his opponent Ibrahim Turay also of the Western Area 6-4. The U-12 competition still continues with John Kamara of Western Area defeating Issa Kamara of the same Western Area 6-4.
And Sorie Kargbo of Western Area defeated Tamba Willie of Eastern Region by 21-8 while Brima Koroma from the Southern Region defeated J. Koite of Western Area by 21-5.
In the female competition Famata James of Eastern Region defeated Mattu Koroma of Western Area 21-15. The competition will still continue today.
