The Heritage Foundation has released the final results of the lantern parade and carnival held Saturday 26th April on Independence eve.
Various categories were contested by the several lantern and singing groups. Original Super Combo, Ishrine lantern club, APC Women lantern club and Firestone club competed for the singing and music category. That category was won by Firestone lantern club scoring 34 and half percent to be followed by APC Women lantern club, Ishrine and Original Super Combo.
The APC Women lantern club won the Ashobie contest scoring 33 and half percent to be followed by Firestone, Clinetonian lantern club and Ishrine.
For the category A of lantern vessel, house and aeroplane was won again by Firestone with a point of 32% followed by Congo Town, Ishrine and Susan’s Bay lantern club. Clinetonians lantern club won the Group B category for animal in any description with 29% to be followed by Mandela youth club , Baimbrace and Bantus. Portee and Susans Bay came third and fourth.
For the miscellaneous lantern group, Original Super Combo won with 39% followed by Portuguese, APC and Kissy central club. The overall championship was won by Firestone and APC Women lantern club with 97 and half percent each. Original Super Combo was second to be followed by Ishrine, Clinetonians, Bombay and Bantus lantern club respectively.
