The witness Nanah Bockarie, a teacher of the Freetown Secondary School for Girls has on Wednesday 11th March testified at court No.1 in a land case between Ibrahim Sayo Dumbuya of Leicester village and one Shalicia Simbo.
Nanah told the court that in November, 2007 her niece who is the complainant told her that she wanted a piece of land at Leicester. The witness said she contacted one Mohamed Samura who led them to Ibrahim Dumbuya who was residing at Cassava village in Leicester.
When they arrived at the house of Ibrahim Dumbuya the complainant (Shalicia) requested to buy two town lots from him. Pa Dumbuya showed them a photo copy of the land document.
The accused agreed to sell the two town lots land to Shalicia for Le7, 000,000 (Seven Million Leones). The witness further explained to the court that the complainant agreed to pay the money in two installments.
The sum of 5,000,000(five million Leones) was given to Ibrahim Dumbuya as part payment on the 1st November, 2007 and the balance of Le2,000,000 (Two Million Leones) was paid on the11th November of the same year.
After concluding the land transaction Shalicia took possession of the land and built a temporary structure for a care taker.
To her total dismay a group of people came to the land and claimed that the land was theirs.
They removed the structure that was put up by Shalicia and that brought a heavy confusion as to who was to take possession of the land.
