A Senior Personnel in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning in Kenema City, Fayia Tonya, has remarked that the problem with land acquisition in that part of the Country emanate from the questionable activities of some land owing families who disregard the rules and regulations of the game.
He made this statement while speaking to Awoko press at his District Office at Dogo Barracks in Kenema City. He said that many land owners in the District expose customers to go into conflict with one another; especially when someone sells a piece of land without the consent of other family members.
He stressed that the conflict which sometimes arise among family members are normally settle amicably at home; living the purchasers to be the losers. He also made mention of the encroachment of state land as people carry out their construction work without permit and other relevant documents.
He intimated that the Ministry would not compromise with defaulters, as he advised all and sundry to desist from illegal act.
He then called on land owners to ensure that their land is surveyed by Ministry Personnel to avoid dispute. He also called on those intending to acquire land to observe the protocol governing land acquisition so that their monies would not go the wrong way.
