Police in Kenema city are investigating the mysterious disappearance of 49 Dunlop tyres belonging to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) office.
The regional crimes officer, Sani Sesay, explained that they received a report from one UN officer Fredrick Ortiz, a Philippino security officer attached to UNHCR sub-office at 105 Hangha Road in Kenema, that they discovered that 49 Dunlop tyres valued at about Le49 million got mission from a container within the compound.
A team of detectives, led by Detective Sergeant 5611 Jusu, later visited the scene. The police discovered that the two padlocks on the container were not damaged and upon interview learnt that the keys to the container were being controlled by one Mohamed Bah the senior driver at the UNHCR office and the fleet manager one Mr Ramadan.
They all have denied knowledge about the theft.
The Hughes Security personnel who guard the compound have also denied knowledge of the missing tyres.
