The Kenema District Council (KDC) has held its first council meeting at the District Council conference hall along Nyandeyama road in Kenema city.
Speaking to the press after the meeting the chairman elect Dr. Senesie Mansaray disclosed that the meeting discussed two important issues, which included the election of the deputy chairperson and the formation of council committees.
Chairman Mansaray said both activities were carried out successfully saying councilor Semion Hindoveh Gauja was elected the deputy chair person for the Kenema district council and thirteen committees were formed during the meeting all with the aim to foster development in the district.
He said the major committees included development and planning, education and health, budget and finance among others.
Concluding Dr. Senesie Mansaray assured all and sundry that he will work with the paramount chiefs as they started the councils in 1946 in Sierra Leone.
He further stated that with the total support of the people in the district he will improve the district and their living standard. He encouraged all to pay their taxes for development.
