As the authorities of the Kenema City Council continue to push forward their development agenda in the city, the Council has embarked on the renaming of certain streets and the renumbering of houses and empty lots in the city.
The city council development committee has been seen planting new poles at various street corners in the city on which the names of the streets will be placed for simple identification of the streets.
This exercise is welcomed by many here in the city but however is reported to have met with some unexpected huddles with unpatriotic residents or common thieves who are bent on seeing that the hands of the development are turned back by removing the poles at night for their selfish use.
The Mayor of Kenema City Council Chief Brima Kargbo is calling on the general public to be on the lookout for these thieves and to arrest anybody seen removing these poles at any time within the day or night.
He warned that anybody caught removing any of these poles will face the full weight of the law with a stiff fine including a prison term not less than seven years with hard labour the Mayor stressed.
The Mayor is also calling on the police to be vigilant in arresting and charging to court anyone found removing any of these poles planted at the street corners by people whom he described as enemies of development.
Chief Brima Kargbo says development is the main concern of the city council at this point in time and that the council will not allow anyone to divert their good intentions.
He called on all and sundry to tight up their belt to come on board to see that development is achieved in Kenema city in the interest of all.
