A non governmental organization, Centre Research Training Programme for Development (CRTPD), has donated 40 mattresses, 40 shoes, and assorted toys to the Blind School at the Rural Training Institute camp (RTI), at the outskirts of Kenema city, with support from the Sunday Foundation based in The Netherlands.
Presenting the items to the chairman of the blind Hanafi Sowa, the Country Director for Sunday Foundation Mohamed Foday Kamara said his organization was not for money making but to help the poor.
He said all Sierra Leoneans were his brothers and sisters and that the plight of anyone was his utmost concern.
Mr Kamara told his audience that the toys among the donation were for the blind children, adding that his organization would continue to create micro credit and other training facilities for the blind through project writing and that these projects should be directed to CRTPD.
He disclosed that, “the Sunday Foundation is working with two organizations in the country, one in the north and the other in the east and south”. He called on other humanitarian organizations to come together to assist the poor.
Receiving the items on behalf of the blind the chairman, Hanafi Sowa, thanked the Country Director for Sunday Foundation and his team for their gesture which he said was timely.
He promised that the items would be used for their intended purposes, and that every member of the centre would benefit from them.
