Krio Descendants Union (KDU) of Atlanta, Georgia, USA has donated food items to the Regent Village Community through St Charles Church Regent. Canon Elkanah Thomas of St Charles said he received a correspondence from KDU Atlanta that they were impressed with the support that the church gave to its members and wanted the church to organise such a food donation to the Regent Community, which the Vicar and his Parish Council accepted and were able to buy rice, sugar and onions to be distributed.

“We decided to do the distribution to churches and mosque that have been participating in the Regentonian celebration, and we ended up giving Dove Memorial Methodist Church, Church of Christ and Faith Free Healing Church. We also gave the mosque at Gloucester Road and the police, the health centre, car wash and bike riders.” Canon Thomas said they were able to give seven bags of rice, a bag of sugar and a bag of onions that they will in turn distribute to their members. Most of the pastors that received the gifts said they were happy as they are all one family in the church, as well as the village. They called for closer ties and to preach the Gospel, as well as to unite the village so that peace and development will always reign.

Pastor Sheik of Faith Free averred that on behalf of all the churches that have received the gifts they want to send their appreciation to KDU and hope that as they have remembered them at this time of COVID challenges, they will continue to remember them. They prayed for KDU and wished them safety at this time. The same appreciation emanated from the other beneficiary groups, as they said they were not expecting such a donation. As they have been thought of as part of the community, they said they are happy and will work with the St Charles Church always, to bring tranquility in the village.
