The Chairman of Development and Planning, Kambia District Council, Sheka Ansuma Kamara has said that they have constructed a boat as a means of transporting patient to health facilities.
He explained, “We have constructed a boat to aid people living in the far riverene areas to have access to health facilities.”
He also added that the boat will serve as an easy means of transportation for health workers going to work in remote areas.”
The KDC development chairman said that Council is presently on an ongoing construction of a guest house and an office.
In the area of education, he said, “we are trying to create a statistics which was a task given to us by the Ministry of Education to access the status of the community schools and government assisted schools and we have accomplish this task,” he said.
“When the ministry compare our data to that of theirs it varied simply because [they did the wrong thing],” he explained.
The secret of having accurate data on the schools, the chairman said, “we group these schools, were as those from the ministry who did the first survey only grouped the community school…” he explained.
Sheka Ansuma Kamara further revealed that violence is an issue in their community “we see the need to sensitize the community in the need to stop violence and this will hinder development, now is the time for development when we approach 2012 then we will go into the field of politics,” he said.
