The Kenema City Council (KCC) has presented a cheque of Le 350.000 to the Youth Movement for Better Future operating in Kenema city.
Presenting the cheque to the youth group the councilor in charge of ward 32 Roland Berneth described members of the Youth Movement for Better Future as role models in the community adding that youths are the backbone of every community and therefore development in every community lies with them.
He reminded youths of their role and responsibilities toward the development of the nation adding that they have a vital role to play in the country’s development aspirations. He encouraged other wards in the municipality to emulate the good examples of their colleagues in ward 32.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Youth Movement For Better Future, the Secretary General for the group Idrisa Kanu thanked the Kenema City Council for their gesture adding that the aim of their group is to complement the Council’s effort toward the development of Kenema city.
He disclosed that about 50 of its members are currently undertaking road maintenance in ward 30 in the Kenema city cemetery lane. He called on the City Council to help them with working tools which he said will help facilitate their good initiatives towards community development in the city. He said they will continue to live to the expectation of the community adding that youths nowadays are level headed.
