The Kamakwie Wesleyan Old Students Association (KaWOSA) has been revived into a vibrant association after many years in silence. ]
The Coordinating Team which is currently serving as a vehicle for the successful revival of the association has decided to embark on conducting classes at home during the first semester holiday this year.
The Team has succeeded in getting students from various Universities and colleges in the country to actively serve as teachers for about three weeks.
The PRO of the Coordinating Team, Alimamy T. Bangura stated that the University students will not just serve as teachers but will as well inspire their brothers and sisters at home about the need to have love for education and the essence of acquiring University education.
“We are aiming to make the school regain its past glory, encourage all old students to give out their contributions to the school and most importantly to revive the association of old students (KaWOSA)”, he further emphasized.
“We are planning to secure school materials for the active implementation of this project as we are currently scouting for non-natives to join those that will be going to serve as teachers during our three weeks exercise at home.”
“We are calling on all old students of the school to support this project as food and transportation needs to be provided for those volunteers”, said the chairman of the Coordinating Team, Mr. Abdulai Dumbuya.
The Coordinating Team on Thursday the 20th January 2011, made a joint visit to the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Sam Sesay, who expressed his determination to pay back to the school that discovered his talent.
He commended the Coordinating Team for such effort and encouraged all old students to come onboard as the success of the school lies on their shoulders “I am disappointed at the deplorable condition of our school” he said.
“The Board should be very active in order for the school to regain its glorious days”, he further said. The minister further encouraged all old students to attend a very important meeting next month as the Coordinating Team will announce the date, time and venue for such meeting.
