At the opening of the May Criminal Session on Monday 27th January 2020, Justice Ivan Sesay ordered the detention of two bailiffs. The Judge took this decision when he realized that the bailiffs, who serve as process servers, did not serve most of the accused persons who are on bail. Therefore, most of those accused of crimes were not present during the roll call. According to the bailiffs’ supervisor, Gerald Paris, they received copies of the indictments from the Law Office late. The Judge also realized that some of the excuses the process servers presented were untrue. He ordered that the prison officers detain two of them.
