Pupils who turned up for interview at the  Methodist Girls High (MGHS) School yesterday for admission into the JSS stream were furious to learn that the administration was in shambles as there was no clear indication as to who is the principal of the school.
Parents who had gathered in the school’s compound very early in the morning confronted the administrative staff for the interview but they were told that they had no idea as to who was the principal.
This sudden revelation was followed by a protest involving teachers and some other senior administrative staff members.
Parents and school children were very angry  and security personnel had to be summoned to the scene to restore order.
According to some teachers who spoke under condition of anonymity claimed that the office of   Rev. Admire Nelson, who was principal of the school since the retirement of Madam Gilpin, is presently incapacitated.
It was learnt that the Ministry of Education recently served Rev. Admire Nelson with a letter of retirement and had also instructed her to hand over the mantle of administration to Madam Muriel Shaw who had been principal for the Junior Secondary School.
The teachers who had spent several days preparing for the interview learnt that one of the Proprietors of the School Rev. Nabieu brought a letter on the 2nd August, 2009, endorsing Madam Nelson to continue to serve as principal.
They decided not to conduct any interview under such unprecedented administrative condition. They said Madam Shaw is the substantive   principal and they would only conduct interviews under her administration.
Parents considered the event as a “blatant administrative blunder’’ since staff members cannot sort out themselves. They expressed strong feeling of resentment considering the difficult times and their efforts to leave their homes only to find themselves in the midst of castigations.
