The one time Sierra Leonean Ambassador to the United States, John Leigh, has spoken of the need for the APC government to double its steps in fulfillment of part of its mandate that has to do with the bread and butter issue among many others.
His comment comes marking the much talked-about ongoing hardship, otherwise termed “global”.  Speaking to Awoko, John Leigh says the cost of foodstuff is alarming and further questioned what he terms “wide-spread unemployment” particularly for the growing youth population.   He accused concerned authorities for not doing enough in transforming the old system of farming which is still being done at subsistence level with the use of local implements which has failed to bring the necessary yield to feed the ever-growing population.
John Leigh further accused APC government for doing very little to address the much-talked-about global economic trends.
“The government should not sit by folding its arms and see things taking positive turn but should be seen doing its home work if they are to move the country” John Leigh observed. He then warned the government to set out felt-needed priorities which starts with feeding the population, getting the youths off the streets before setting out the necessary things” John Leigh concluded. Asked whether he still holds political ambition, he was quick to say “yes” adding that until and unless well-meaning politicians with both local and international credibility are in charge of the affairs of the state, nothing is yet to be achieved.
