Johannsen FC departs in high spirit

One of Sierra Leone’S best junior football team Johannes FC departed Friday in very high spirit for their encounter in Spain against the Spanish U-17 team in a friendly match before going to America to play in an international football tournament slated for the 14-16 of this month.
Before the team departed, they paid a visit to Vice President Sam Sumana at his office. The Vice President said he was very pleased to meet with the management of the team who has brought the boys together over the past years.
“It is a very difficult task to bring such boys up to this level” he said adding that it “means that the management has done a lot of work.”
He mentioned that Johannsen FC is not just going as sports men but as ambassadors of Sierra Leone and thanked Isha Johannsen for her contribution towards the boys pointing out that it is history “for Boys like you to have multiple visas.”
After his statement the Vice President was presented with one of their jersey which they will be using during the competition with the Vice President Mark on it.
The competition will comprise of about 10 different teams including, Mexico Germany and a host of other countries. Sierra Leone is the only African country to participate in such a competition.
She mentioned that she has been with the team for 5 years now but the first 3 years she was building the boys up so that they could focus on their schooling and alongside they were playing the football in the local level.
It was last year that she decided to take them out and started playing international matches as they are now strong and assure of their performances in the field
She describe the Johannsen boys as part of her family and she wants to see them achieve their aims and objectives in life and that she is always there to assist them at all times.
She also disclosed that any trip they make they always invite them to play in another competition and they also express some interest in some of the players
She also mentioned that in the next two years most of these boys will not be among them as they should have gone up for international assignments.
She went further that those players who are going now will bring other players on board to fill any gap in the team.
She also disclosed that after their trip from Sweden they were able to bring four new players on board to strengthen since team as they have more competition to play over the next years.
She also described her boys as the next national players that will start to represent the nation as they have a lot of talented players in the team.
Isha Johannsen said football is a wonderful sport and there should be no barrier as every body is one and they must come together to build the sports. She finally assured Sierra Leone of victory.
The team delegation comprises of 18 players and 9 officials
