The Goodwill Ambassador of the Sierra Leone Israel Friendship Society Sirajin Munir Rollings- Kamara has reacted to the call by the Libyan Leader for African Countries to close ties with Israel as unfortunate.Col. Muammar Ghaddaffi made the call at a meeting he hosted of African Heads of State in Tripoli where he accused Israel to be responsible for the woes the African continent is facing.
Reacting to the call in a press release, the Goodwill Ambassador referred to the Libyan leader as one who had played a role in the conflicts in Liberia and Sierra Leone as he trained most of the RUF and NPFL rebels. “He ripped us of our diamonds as he ran a trade cartel running through Liberia, Burkina Faso and then to Libya. In all of this bedlam, what has he given back to the people of Sierra Leone and Liberia” he questioned.The release called on Ghaddaffi to first tender his apologies to Sierra Leone and Liberia and to make reparation to the war affected who were faced with “indescribable and unspeakable sufferings and hardship as he helped destroy our infrastructure whilst he continued to make himself rich through our diamonds”According to the release, Israel’s involvement in Africa began in 1957 where they assisted African countries gain Independence and as a result of that, the department of MASHAV was established which went on to train thousands of Africans in several fields.
