The Institutional Reform and Capacity Building Project (IRCBP) is in the process of constructing a new administrative office for the Kenema City Council.
This disclosure was made at a special ceremony held at the Kenema City hall to hand over the building documents to that city’s chairman.
The project’s engineer, George Lamin Vandi, said the construction of the structure was to help the council with its infrastructure programmes.
He noted that at the start of the decentralization process many councils had poor office arrangements, which prevented them from working effectively.
Responding the City Council Chief Administrator, Mohamed Kenneh, stated that the Decentralization Secretariat and the World Bank had continue to help the councils because of their roles in spreading across community developments in the country.
The chairman of the Kenema City Council, Chief Evans Gbemeh, averred that the council would not continue to depend on donors’ supports, and called on the people to pay their taxes always so that the council would continue to live up to its expectation.
