The Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sierra Leone yesterday commemorated the 20th anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution and founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The theme of the commemoration ceremony was “Cultural Attitudinal Change and Development”. A good number of Muslims and other well wishers stormed the Miatta Conference hall in the spirit of Khomeinism
The Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of Iran in Sierra Leone, Dr Nasrullah Maliki in his address referred to late Imam Khomeini as a man of mystical character whose personality is difficult to find amongst the world’s greatest leaders except for prophets. “Imam was not as an ordinary politician that gazed at situation and investigate global politics and use the paradoxes and when he believed in doing something nothing could prevent him from doing it.” the Ambassador added.
H also highlighted some of the legacies of Imam Khomeini rendered to his people which includes : independence,freedom,glory and establishment of justice, revival of Islam, fight against sovereignty order, establishment of regime based on Islam, emphasis on keeping high moral and human values and revival of self reliance in the nation. He asked all present to pray for Imam Khomeini for success of the government of Sierra Leone and for good health and happiness for the people of Sierra Leone.
The Chancellor of the Cultural Consulate of the Iranian Embassy in Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Ghezel Sofla said the late Imam Khomeini was an Iranian who was a man of every nation. He said the late leader established a political structure that was based on Islamic principles similar to what prophet Mohamed did in Madina when he established the first Islamic state. The Chancellor noted that countries are now using cultural ideologies to colonize other countries. He justified the reason for choosing the theme which is about culture and change of attitude for development.
