The Sierra Leone Men’s National Basketball team is set to play an international friendly match against their Guinean counterpart on Valentine’s Day, 14th February, in Conakry, Guinea.
The essence of this match is to strengthen the relationship between the two national federations and also to further foster sub-regional integration between Sierra Leone and Guinea.
This encounter will be the first between the countries at senior level, as the Sierra Leone U-16 national basketball team was hosted by Guinea in 2019.
This event is being spearheaded by the Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) and Sports for Development and Peace (SDP) which is an international organisation based in Sierra Leone to promote peace and unity through sports.
Other development partners who have shown interest in supporting the event are the Government of Sierra Leone through its Ministry of Sports, and the Guinean Government.
