A one time employee of Benco Trading Limited at Ecowas Street in Freetown Thaimu Koroma has resolved that within the next couple of days he would file a law suit against the Managing Director of the Benco Trading Limited Sahid Swaid for short payment and unlawful termination.
The Managing Director has told Awoko that Thaimu Koroma was not unlawfully terminated as alleged, but he was warned for gross misconduct and insubordination on many occasions before he was terminated with a terminal benefit.
He said Thaimu was an office assistant who always misbehave and goes unpunished but his last performance was unbearable as he uses a lot of threaten remarks against him for refusing to grant him two months leave to proceed on a funeral rite in the provinces.
He said Thaimu was paid a basic monthly salary of Le150, 000 plus other allowances which amounted to Le 250,000 on a monthly basis.
According to letter tendered to Awoko by Mr Thaimu dated 19th November 2008 an officer of the Ministry of Labour Social Security and Industrial Relations one Max Alie indicated that there was short payment in salary and allowances paid to Thaimu for ten months before his termination.
The letter further stated that the Managing Director of Benco Trading limited should pay (Le1,470,000) one million four hundred and seventy thousand as backlog arrears to his employee Thaimu effective 1st December 2007 to September 2008.
Thaimu is said to have been very much disappointed with the management of Benco Trading limited.
He stated that he has worked with Benco Trading limited for over three years but has never realized a single increment in his salary.
He explained that after calculating his terminal benefit by Mr. Max Alie the labour officer everything summed up to (Le2,665.000) two million six hundred and sixty five thousand leones but only  received (Le 555,000) five hundred and fifty five thousand Leones on the advice of the company Lawyer Kabba Koroma.
