In the on going U-13 cricket competition in Ghana the Sierra Leone U-13 team yesterday defeated the host Ghana in their second match
Ghana started batting and made 78 runs all out and when Sierra Leone team took the crease they replied with 82 runs with 6 wickets for 10 overs
Also yesterday, The Gambia U-13 team continued their winning spree after defeating Sierra Leone in their first match by 17 runs and in their second match they defeated Nigeria. It was Gambia that first took the crease and made 133 runs all out for 18 overs. when Nigeria took the crease they made 94 runs with 7 wickets 20 overs
Ghana defeated Cameroon in their first match. Ghana first took the crease first and they made 222 runs for 20 overs
When Cameroon took the crease they replied with 64 runs for 7 wickets and 14 overs.
Speaking to Awoko Sports from Ghana the leader of the Sierra Leone delegation Allieu Bockarie said that they lost their first match to the Gambia as the boys were not prepared because of their late arrival in Ghana.
After the first match the coach Ibrahim Sesay took time to explain to the boys the importance of the competition and the reason why they lost the first match to the Gambia
Allieu also disclosed that after winning their second match the boys are now determined to continue their winning today as they battle with Nigeria in a match that is expected to be tough as the Nigerian side will not want to be defeated in two matches in row.
The Sierra Leone side also cannot afford to lose any match again if they are to bring the trophy home.
In another development the U-19 cricket team is presently undergoing a week intensive training in South Africa in preparation for the qualifying match in Zambia for the World Cup.
The U-19 delegation is expected to depart for Zambia over the weekend.
