As the Inter-Schools Volleyball competition continue at the National Stadium Volleyball court for Schools in the Western Area, the Methodist Girls High School defeated Vine Memorial Secondary School by two straight sets of 25-4,25-10.
They would face the defending champions, the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) on Friday in the next stage of the competition.
In the Junior Secondary Schools category, UMASS defeated UMC Girls in the best of 15 by winning the first match by 25-21. In the second game UMASS bounced back from their defeat to level the score after winning 26-24.
In the best of 15, UMASS won by 15-10. This match was more or less sub-standard as both Schools had players who were not well-grounded in the game.
Government Secondary Technical School in the Senior Boys category came very strong to continue their winning spree by defeating Government Model Secondary School by 25-18 and 25-22.
In another development, the Education Officer in the Physical and Health Education Department, Sahid Conteh told Awoko sports that this year’s competition is played on a double knockout basis, which gives every School the opportunity to play twice before going out of the competition.
