Osman Conteh, the night watchman at the Port Loko District Council, has been arraigned before Magistrate Joseph Amadu for arson.
Popularly known as ‘Orgbone’, he is accused of setting fire to the office on March 19, which destroyed property estimated at millions of Leones.
‘Orgbone’, it is being alleged, on that day was extracting fuel from the office generator when the blaze occurred.
Among the items that went up in flames were payment vouchers, bank pay slips, cheque books and other financial documents.
It was disclosed by the central chiefdom finance clerk, Patrick Alfred Turay, that only 473 out of a total of 800 books were retrieved from the blaze.
