An OSD personnel Magnus Amara with police number 11546 attached to Daru police station is currently in police custody at the Regional police headquarters ‘L’ Division Kenema for having sexual relations with a nine years old child, a class three pupil of the Kenema District Education (KDC) primary school along Moiwo street in Kenema.
Reports say Magnus Amara is married with his wife a suckling mother.
On Friday July 11, 2008 Magnus Amara allegedly came from Daru and went to 12 Hindowa street in the morning hours to greet his girl friend, but unfortunately the girl friend was not there so he then took along the younger sister of his girl friend to his residence at Cow yard along Wahmann Abu road in Kenema.
The child helped his wife by fetching water for the house, and also helped launder the baby’s dress.
During this process the husband gave some money to his wife to go to the market to prepare for the following day while the visiting child was to stay behind and cook their food. The women went away to the market walking on foot which is over a mile’s walk and the child cooked the food and arranged them according to instructions given to her by the woman.
The girl reportedly then went into the husband’s room to keep the food. This was when the husband who was in the room got hold of her and sexually abused her.
The child was with him for the rest of the day and in the evening he took her to her grandfather’s premise a sorcerer Alhaji Mohamed Kallon at Kpetema layout instead of taking her to her grandmother where he initially took her from. The grandfather observing the child remarked that he is not satisfied with the condition of the child and then took her to a nearby nurse to check the child. The nurse reported that somebody has sexually tampered with the little girl.
Alhaji Kallon then went to the Family Support Unit (FSU) at the police station in Kenema and reported the incident.
The OSD personnel Magnus Amara was then invited and interrogated, he has since been detained.
The head of the FSU in Kenema Esther Kamara told Awoko that she is waiting for the medical report to charge the matter to court while the accused is in the police cell. She said she is in Kenema to perform her duty with a free mind according to the law.
