The U-19 cricket team which is supposed to represent Sierra Leone in the U-19 cricket competition in Mozambique this month continues to humiliate the senior cricket team by winning three out of the four trial matches played.
In the last match which was played this Tuesday U-19 won by 27 runs.
The U-19 side was the first to bat and they made 164 runs all out in 34.4 overs with Abubakarr Kamara making the highest score of 59 runs, Emmanuel Pessima made 34 runs while Mohamed Alie Bangura made 17 runs.
Bowling for the senior side was Mustapha Kallon who took 4 wickets for 24 runs, Ibrahim Sesay took 3 wickets for 32 runs, and Gabriel Anthony took 2 wickets for 32 runs, while Lansana Lamin took 1 wicket for 26 runs.
When the senior side took the crease to bat they replied with 137 runs all out in 33.6 overs with Mustapha Kallon making the highest score of 35 runs, Luseni Sensei made 32 runs and Gabriel Anthony made 23 runs.
When the U-19 cricket side took their turn to bowl Abubakarr Kamara took 4 wickets for 20 runs, Jacob Mansaray took 2 wickets for 17 runs and Ibrahim Kabia took 2 wickets for 28 runs.
Speaking to Awoko Sports after the match some of the U-19 players said that they are determined to make a big difference in the game and promised that they will do well in the competition in Mozambique and that they will win the competition and bring laurels home.
