Chief Justice Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh has adhered to the request of the defence team for the removal of the presiding Judge Nicholas Browne Marke in the seven count indictment against former Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister, Afsatu Kabba.
Presiding over the matter now is Justice Samuel Ademusu, who requested that the indicted former Minister to enter a new plea in all seven charges.
The accused pleaded not guilty in all the counts, and the first prosecution witness took the witness stand and was midway in his evidence when the defence requested for an adjournment.
Justice Ademusu adjourned the matter to May 17, 2010.
However, the scene around the Law Court building was really an unpleasant one as personnel of the Operation Support Division (OSD) barricaded the vicinity and did not even allow journalists to enter the courtroom to report proceedings.
