Lieutenant Colonel Robert Shaw commended the efforts of the initiator Warrant Officer Steggles who himself is a keen boxer. The IMATT officer also said he was thankful to RSLAF officers and men for their excellent show during the Boxing Competitions. He also stated that this is the creation of the start of a measure for the RSLAF Benevolent fund and the establishment of a worthy cause.
The Minister of Defence Major (Rtd.) Alfred Pallo Conteh who was very pleased with the donation also thanked IMATT on behalf of the government for the initiative. The Minister recalled that the donation reminded him of the old good days in the RSLAF when the Annual Inter Units Boxing Competition climaxed sporting activities in the RSLAF and the money he said would be used for the Welfare of the troops. The Defence Minister also expressed his gratitude to the IMATT Commander for the venture and also commended Comium for supporting the boxing competition.
