The Chief Imam of Fullah Mosque, Alhaji Mohamed Mustapha Barrie, last Friday “Juma” prayers condemn the action of the authorities of France for banning the wearing of “Nicaw” Islamic veil by female Muslims in public.
Imam Alhaji Barrie said the Islamic veil put on by the female Muslims is a mandate from God that Muslim women should put on the Nicaw, covering the entire body of the woman.
He said Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in Europe and the enemies of Islam are working very hard to destroy the religion but assured the congregation that they will not succeed. The Imam made these remarks during a special sermon delivered on the 21st May,2010 at the Fullah Mosque, Jenkins Street in Freetown.
He said there are certain countries in Europe like Switzerland and France where discrimination is ongoing against Muslims, citing the banning the construction of a Minaret in a Mosque by the Swiss authorities.
Imam Barrie said the Minaret is one of the symbols of Islam and therefore there should be respect for Islamic symbol all Top of Form

He told the congregation that as a Muslims that you have to defend Islam.
The Imam noted that as Muslims you must face trials, in a bid to test your faith in God, and therefore in the midst of those trials, you must be patient, calm and rest your case to God. He said the prophet of Islam Muhammad (S.A.W) encountered lots of persecutions and trials but yet still he did not relent to propagate the message of Islam.
He said “You cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven without facing trials”.
He said these are some of the problems the Muslims are facing around the world and as Muslims what happens to our brothers and sisters elsewhere, should be the concerns of all Muslims and offered prayers for the oppressed Muslims in Palestine, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan. He commended the concerns Muslims who collaborated with the United Council of Imams in Sierra Leone to organize the special prayers in various Mosques in the city.
Also in his sermon, Alhaji Mohamed Mustapha Barrie, emphasized the significance of prayers, noting that without prayers, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He told the congregation that God created mankind for two purpose on earth, to work and to worship Allah alone, noting that if you are working, without performing your five daily prayers, definitely, you are in a big trouble on the part of Allah.
He admonished the Muslims to be steadfast in Islam and perform their five daily prayers.
