Former Deputy Minister of Sports Ishmail Al-Sankoh-Conteh under President Koroma said he is going to file an appeal against the Commission of Inquiry (COI) Report of the ruling SLPP government. He said together with his family they have agreed to file an appeal and have already consulted a lawyer, adding: “We hope the justice system will treat us fairly.”
He said he is sure with God’s grace he will be exonerated at the end of the day.
The former Deputy Sports Minister said he has maintained his integrity and credibility and is free of corruption. “I never collaborated with anyone to involve in corruption and I’m suffering with my family. Friends and neighbours knows that I’m living a very decent and humble life; and I will never put my hands in anything to enrich myself, otherwise it would have shown in my living standard with my family. But I maintain my integrity to ensure that my family’s name is not dragged into anything which has disrepute, dishonesty or anything that has to do with corruption. So, I will go all out to defend my name, and I am sure I will be freed from all these allegations. I am going to be exonerated!”
He concluded by saying that he believes after the appeal he will be freed because he is innocent of all allegations made against him, noting that he is ready to comply as he is a law abiding citizen who believes in the rule of law and the court system.
