The President of the Sierra Leone Judo Association, Idriss Massaquoi, has disclosed to Awoko Sports that the International Judo Federation (IJF) has donated some Judo equipments to the association.
He said that amongst the items donated are judo mats, which are of international standards.
He also pointed out that the International Judo Federation (IJF) is planning to send a qualified Judo coach to Sierra Leone to train the coaches and the national team and that this training would commence in November this year.
He said that the Federation has already identified the coach but that adequate preparation has to be made to take care of his lodging and feeding.
An appeal would later be made to the Sports Ministry and other individuals for financial and moral support.
He disclosed that the coach would train about 30 strong men in Freetown and later proceed to Bo and Kenema to continue the training.
He noted that most people can hardly distinguish between judo and karate as the same uniform is been used for both disciplines.
