International Handball Federation (IHF) has boosted the Sierra Leone Handball Association with Tartan Flooring.
Speaking to Awoko sports correspondent, the association scribe, A .G Koroma, said they are very happy and thanked the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone for paying the bill for the Tartan Flooring.
He also revealed that the Flooring has arrived at the Queen Elizabeth the second Quay in Freetown.
He also stated that the only thing left is to clear the flooring from the quay. To ensure this is done quickly, he said, they have appealed to business houses and companies to come on board to assist the association to clear the flooring.
The association’s scribe stated that they are in dire need of a standard Indoor Court that other sporting disciplines will benefit from.
He also recalled that both the male and female national handball teams failed to measure up to standard in the IHF Challenge trophy in Mali and Senegal respectively, because of the lack of facility to practice the sport.
”The floor is here and we crave the assistance of the government and other entities to enable us effect its clearance for the growth of the game,” says A.G. adding that the association is also calling on the government to provide a land for the construction of an indoor court which would in future, enable the association to host International competitions.
