Outgoing Deputy Defence Minister Joe Blell has told journalists that he will be leaving office with his head raised high up, after serving five years as minister.
Addressing a press conference at Defence Headquarters Wednesday, Mr Blell disclosed that he has served as Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for ten years.
“I think I will be leaving with my head high up” he said, adding “When I became Defence Minister in 2002 … since then there have been great improvements. We now have an army all of us should be proud of.”
Continuing he said “I will say thanks to all those who gave me the opportunity to serve and I believe I have served to the best of my ability”
Mr Blell also said “first and foremost I am a nationalist and will take my leave and enjoy my time with my family” When asked whether he will accept serving as a minister for the second time, he only gave a chuckle.
