The desk officer and National head coach of the national Cricket team Cyril Panda who was also in charge of the U-19 cricket team has disclosed to Awoko sports yesterday at the National stadium that he was not sacked as the National head coach but replaced as the U-19 Cricket coach
He said the report over the media that he was sacked is misleading as the journalists failed to have his own his part of the story and went on to publish, which is not a good journalism, he said.
According to the letter that was written by the association to coach Panda to replace him with Solomon Fatoma, stated that the decision to replace him was taken last Sunday by the executive.
The letter further stated that the association cannot compromise its image as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has disdainfully rejected the overture of the desk officer of cricket towards the issuance of visa to some certain groups of people out of their own normal schedule
This situation has given room for doubt and therefore created some doubts as exhibited by the desk officer Cyril Panda, because he did not go through the normal procedure and his desperation for the move did created suspicion.
The letter also disclosed that they do not object to the inclusion of government officials but, cannot accommodate his inclusion in the ICC sponsored contingent anymore.
The ICC only caters for 14 players and two officials from the association, secondly for ICC to know that he is an employee of the ministry of Education Youth and Sports will not augur well.
Even though the decision taken by the executive committee is painful, but they have to salvage the image of Sierra Leone with regards to immigration scam the ICC has suspected.
In closing the letter stated that this decision will not dampen the cordial relationship between the association and the ministry.
