Aspirant for ward 361 in for the Freetown City Council under the APC party, councilor Abdul Salaam Kanu has told Awoko that, his main aim for contesting the local council election is to bring development for his people and this he said, is achievable through the cooperation of the people at the ward level.
He spoke to Awoko during a snap interview at the Kissy mental home where he was caught a cleaning exercise with his people at the Kissy community. Asked why it is only now he has embarked on the cleaning exercise Councilor Abdul Salaam Kanu said, it is only now that he has the free hand to do that and that, he has undertaken similar projects in other areas like Porte, Kissy market and other areas under his ward.
Councilor Kanu said, ‘the cleaning of communities under my ward has been a major focus since I have been in council and when elected as councilor, I will ensure I take development to my people’.
Talking on his plan for the ward, Councilor Kanu said, he will ensure the ward gets a self-help projects and this will be done through advocacy. ‘I don’t believe so much on the position or title itself but am concerned with taking development to my people’.
He revealed that, he has the intention of working with other aspirants in the ward hence it has to do with development. ‘This is a developmental contest and not a physical contest. So I see n o need of seeing others as enemies but they are my opponents’.
