The only handball professional player in the country, Teddy Campbell, has told Awoko Sport that he is very happy to return home to develop handball in the country.
He has been playing professional handball in Nigeria for Niger United.
Teddy Campbell said he was spotted by the Niger United Executive when Sierra Leone took part in the Commonwealth Games in Nigeria.
He said during the Handball Competition, he emerged as the highest goal scorer of all the African teams that participated in the competition, and it was during that period that the Executive of Niger United saw a lot of potential in him and wasted no time but to bring him on board.
Teddy Campbell said he has been playing professional handball in Nigeria for two years and eight months now, and that the contract is going on well.
Campbell revealed that they want to naturalize him so that he can have the oppounrity to play for the Nigeria National Handball team, but he wants to play for his mother land, Sierra Leone. He said he will be in Freetown for six months and that he is expected to go back to Nigeria early next year. Teddy Campbell appealed to younger handball players that they need to be dedicated and they should forget about money and play the game well.
