A one day HIV/AIDS sensitization workshop has ended at Rofainya in the Gberay-Morrie Section of Maforki Chiefdom in the Port Loko District.
The workshop was organized by the Sendugu Youth Movement in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS Secretariat. The ceremony was climaxed by statement from key community members.
Abdul Osands Bangura a Senior Lecturer at Port Loko Teachers College, who chaired the ceremony, said, “AIDS is real” and has the capability to affect any body irrespective of race, age or status.”
This was buttressed by the HIV/AIDS focal person in the area- Richard Gborie, and Abdul Razak who represented the youth. They urged those in attendance to endeavor to know their HIV status by going for volunteer testing.
The Programme Coordinator in the area Mohamed Zola Kargbo spoke on the causes and ways through which the virus can be transmitted.
