The National AIDS Secretariat (NAS) has completed a three-day training for district AIDS committees in Sierra Leone at the Kenema City Council hall.
A facilitator of the training, Martin Agie, gave a brief background on the training. He pointed out that, “NAS transfers funds periodically to district councils to make these funds available to civil society organizations”.
Mr Agie disclosed that, “the national prevalent rate is 1.5% which makes it the lowest in the sub region”.
He maintained that though the funding was in the country the knowledge on HIV and AIDS was very low.
NAS’ programme officer, John Baimba, said the training was one of the guidelines for the transfer of funds from NAS to the district councils under the CCSI of SHARP.
Mr Baimba stated that, “the objective of the training is to impact knowledge and skills required for effective and efficient management of funds for civil society organizations’ activities in their respective districts.
