A 38-year old man who was accused of sexually penetrating a 4-year old girl has appeared at the High Court on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown for trial. When he appeared before the presiding Justice, Ivan Sesay on Wednesday 8th January 2020, Kargbo denied the allegation. The allegation against the accused, Alpha Kargbo, on 19th April 2019, at his Waterloo residence, he used his finger to sexually penetrate the child. He told the court that he was a community leader and some people were not in favour of him. As a result, they decided to accuse him of committing the offense. State prosecutor, Esther Kabia urged the Judge to wait for the next adjourned date before deciding on bail. She also expressed her desire to object to bail. Justice Sesay said he will admit Alpha Kargbo to bail if on the next date, he realized that the evidence was weak. Kargbo was sent on remand at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The hearing will continue on Wednesday 15th January 2020.
