A gin known as Haja Mary who operates with a popular traditional healer known as Dr. Alpha Koroma alias ”Labaiwai” meaning wonderful, has invaded Pujehun district in the south of the country. Dr. Alpha Koroma operates with three gins namely: Haja Mary, her husband, Alhaji Alia and her grand father, Alhaji Rajiru. Haja Mary and her husband reside at Mano River Union Bridge, while the grand father lives in India, according to Dr. Koroma.
Dauda Sheriff who hails from Yoni in Pujehun district, explained to this press that before they went to Pujehun district with Dr. Koroma, Haja Mary told them that there are lots of witches in the district, causing the retrogression of Gobaru, Massahun, Yoni in Gbanga Krim chiefdom and other villages in the Pujehun district.
He said when Dr. Koroma and his entourage entered Pujehun district, they paid a courtesy call on the Police, Military, Chiefs, the Council and other authorities in the district before Dr. Koroma went into action.
Dauda Sheriff further stated that Dr. Koroma called Haja Mary the gin in broad day light in Yoni Town Gbanga Krim Chiefdom to remove witches in the town. He said Dr. Koroma was granted permission and he removed the twin barrel witch gun and other witch items that have been used by people in the district to harm other people.
He said it took Dr. Koroma about twenty minutes fighting with the witches in broad day light in the village as he was seen fighting in the air by moving from one place to another and that during the process, he hit a wall and blood was oozing from the wall to the vision of all present. This happened in the presence of Chiefdom Speaker, Pa Joe, the wife of the Paramount Chief, Madam Jane Gbonda and other dignitaries in the district.
Hundreds of residents in the Pujehun district got their healing and problems solved at Yoni town during Dr. Koroma’s operation.
On the 8th of July 2010, Dr. Alpha Koroma alias Labaiwai, received a certificate from the National Executive of the Traditional Healers Association in Freetown at a ceremony held at the Holy Trinity Parish hall along Blama road in Kenema City.
The name Alpha Labaiwai is a household name in Kenema city as his clinic at Deima section, behind Wahman Abu Road, is always full of people seeking assistance from him.
